Director and Screenwriter
Studied cinematography in the Complutense University of Madrid (1984-1990). During study years he was an assistant in film productions like El sueño del mono loco (Twisted Obsession / Fernando Treba, 1989) and Las cartas de Alou (Letters From Alou / Monto Armendariz, 1990), and assistant director of Todos a la cárcel (Everyone Off To Jail / Luis Garcia Berlanga 1993).
In the first part of the 90s he was also busy working in advertising productions and began doing his own short movies: Cenizas a las cenizas, La vida siempre es corta (where he also played as an actor), Sangre ciega and Cachorro, latter being a title which was used for a completely different story in his sixth movie, eight years later.
In 1998 he released as a director his first full-length feature, The First Night Of My Life (La primera noche de mi vida) a Spanish-French co-production which was part of an international film project, sponsored by the channel ARTE, which turned out to be a big success by collecting 14 awards from different film festivals.
After that followed films like Manolito Gafotas, Ataque Verbal, El cielo abierto (Goya Award for best supporting actor to Emilio Guiterrez Caba, plus 7 more awards from different festivals) and Rencor (Goya Award Best New Actress to Lolita Flores).
2004 saw the release of his iconic film Cachorro. His last film to date has been Nacidas para sufrir (2010), bringing the Best Actress award of Cinema Writers Circle to Petra Martínez.
Currently, he is focused on working for television, directing several various TV series.
