Miguel Mesquita brings creative passion to every detail of his dishes fusing a creative and experimental style with culinary influences from all over the world. Miguel has lived in Paris, London, Porto, and now Lisbon, and often travels all around Europe focusing on flavors of not just Portugal, but France, Greece, Turkey and many more. He often hits the west coast of the United States exploring its broad gastronomic culture and products of the region.

 

Participating in the TV reality program "MasterChef Portugal" (TVI, Portugal) and winning "War of the Dishes” (FoxLife, Portugal) Miguel decided to leave a career as an Industrial Engineer to embark in the culinary arts by enrolling at Le Cordon Bleu, London. From this he was able to gain experience in 2 Michelin-starred restaurants — Marcus by Marcus Wareing and Helene Darroze at The Connaught . While in London, he worked as a private chef for a young and innovative company where he was responsible for private events and dinners for companies such as Harrods and Aspinal of London as well as hosting open supper clubs.

 

Miguel loves to communicate and share his knowledge. He does so through workshops and cooking classes at Academia Time Out, a cooking school inside the famous Time Out Market, Lisbon, where he is the managing chef. There, he creates immersive learning experiences for his guests featuring his popular international courses as well as Portuguese cuisine.

 

For years now he has also been supporting TeleCulinaria, the oldest food magazine in Portugal, where he gives wings to his creativity working as chef but also alternating as a food stylist. It is this part of his career that he enjoys the most, developing and researching more and more everyday. Recently Miguel and his friend Luis Carvalhal, a respective photography educator, founded a studio for food recipes, food styling and photography — StyleOutLab. Working for several companies to date both Miguel and Luis have created a very particular style, full of creativity and interest and sometimes humorist sense of style.
